Katarína Fedorová

National Institute for Value and Technologies in Health Care (NIHO), Deputy Director and Lawyer
She works as a lawyer and deputy director at the National Institute for Value and Technologies in Healthcare, as well as a lecturer at the Faculty of Law, Trnava University, and the Faculty of Pharmacy, Comenius University. She completed her doctoral studies at Masaryk University in Brno and studied medical law and bioethics at the University of Edinburgh; her doctoral thesis, which focused on the ethical and legal implications of access to innovative treatments, was published in Slovak translation (Innovative Medicines – Legal and Ethical Issues, INESS, 2022) . She is the author of book commentaries on the Health Insurance Act, Act No. 577/2004 Coll., and the Healthcare Act (Wolters Kluwer, 2022, 2023, 2024), as well as more than twenty other publications, articles and analyses in the field of medical law. She is particularly interested in issues relating to the sustainability of the public health insurance system, both in terms of available resources and their fair allocation, particularly in relation to the reimbursement of new medicines.
