Hyperspectral Slovakia – Digital Transformation of Data Collection for Land Management in Slovakia, or How to See the Invisible (15 min)
The National Forest Centre has become the first organisation in the world to integrate ITRES hyperspectral and thermal sensors into a Leica Geosystems airborne mapping system. This makes it possible to combine LiDAR, a multispectral camera with oblique cameras, and a hyperspectral or thermal sensor in a single flight. Data collected once can then be used across forestry, land administration, nature conservation, crisis management and urban planning. Coordinated data collection and shared use of the resulting datasets are estimated to reduce costs by 40 to 50%.
