Peter Richtárik
Professor of Computer Science at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology and Head of the Optimization and Machine Learning research group.
He specialises in large-scale optimisation, machine learning and algorithms. He is one of the original creators of federated learning – an approach that enables models to be trained on distributed sensitive data without unnecessarily moving the data.
His research connects mathematics, algorithms and scalable AI systems, with a strong emphasis on efficiency and privacy.

Michal Chovanec
Clinical oncologist and researcher at the 2nd Department of Oncology, Faculty of Medicine, Comenius University Bratislava, and the National Cancer Institute in Bratislava.
His long-term work focuses on the treatment and research of testicular germ cell tumours, treatment optimisation and follow-up care for patients after treatment. His work combines clinical practice with translational research, biomarkers and real-world data.
He received the Science and Technology Award for his contribution to optimising the treatment of testicular cancer.
