Technológie, ktoré šetria čas personálu a chránia pacienta (7 min)

Technologies that save healthcare professionals time while also protecting the patient were at the core of the vision presented by BTO Slovakia from the BTL group. The aim is to relieve the overburdened healthcare system of administrative and physically demanding tasks so that the time gained can be returned to caring for people. The lecture showcased concrete solutions in physiotherapy, neurorehabilitation, and cardiology.

From a Prague start to a partnership for Slovak hospitals

The BTL group began more than 33 years ago in Prague and has grown into a global player with a presence in over 90 countries, approximately 3,400 employees and 400 developers, most of whom work at headquarters. Its portfolio today covers physiotherapy and rehabilitation, cardiology, and aesthetic medicine, and it has long focused on gentle, safe interventions. Development is accompanied by extensive testing and an emphasis on device reliability. That is also why in practice we still encounter functional devices of different generations side by side.

BTO Slovakia is among the oldest and most stable branches of the group. It offers not only the sale of devices, but also training and fast service directly linked to development, which shortens problem-resolution time. The ambition is to be a long-term and trusted technology partner for Slovak healthcare.

Robotic neurorehabilitation: a return to walking and independence

A growing division is BTL Robotics, which focuses on neurorehabilitation. The aim is to give patients the space to learn to walk again and regain independence, which also eases the burden on the social system. The technologies are designed to be safe for the patient and to spare therapists physical strain.

Among the solutions presented were, for example, the Argate system for gait training for post-stroke patients and VTL Walk, i.e., functional electrical stimulation for the “drop foot” problem. The portfolio was complemented by Italian solutions: Gloreha for fine motor therapy via gloves and UOMO Exo — an exoskeleton for gait training even in open environments. These devices are intended for people with neurological impairments, including the consequences of injuries or diseases of the central nervous system. The common denominators are quality, safety, and saving the specialist staff’s time.

Digitization of cardiology and telemedicine in practice

In cardiology, the company presented the Betil Connectin system — a fully digital solution that promises up to a 30% acceleration of specialists’ work. It helps reduce costs, for example by reducing the need to print ECG records on thermal paper. Key is integration into hospital information systems and automated data sharing and storage. It also includes AI interpretation of results, which speeds up decision-making and thereby indirectly protects the patient.

Digitization has opened the door to telemedicine: the Net Consult tool has been added to the Cardio Point platform and the Connecting system, bringing a specialist to patients even in remote regions. Results “travel” to the patient, diagnostics take place locally, and the expert has them immediately available for assessment, which can save lives in critical situations. At the same time, the company emphasizes research — 400 engineers and a new U.S. patent for gentler heart treatment are pushing the boundaries of the field with maximum safety. From another sustainability angle, sister company Benemit Technologies has also earned recognition thanks to approvals and patents for cultivated meat for the veterinary sphere.
