Quality and EFQM in practise (7 min)
Comprehensive quality management in long-term care is not a theory, but a set of practical decisions, processes, and relationships. When they work, they bring fewer unnecessary hospitalizations, higher satisfaction among patients and employees, and above all dignified care. A presenter with practical experience shows that even under demanding conditions it is possible to achieve stable results – if people, processes, and culture are managed systematically. In most European countries, older people with chronic illnesses form the core of long-term care, and this share will grow. If the system does not function, changes in health status are recognized late and palliative support is lacking, which compromises dignity. Dignity, however, is not a matter of chance – it is the result of well-organized processes and clearly defined goals at the level of the provider, the state, and Europe. Quality thus stems from a decision to be guided by outcomes and to improve continuously, not from individual heroic efforts.Dignity does not happen by accident
