Digitized Nursing Care as a Quality Management Tool in Long-Term Care (7 min)

Eva Fedušová - , Malina portal ·

Long-term care in Europe is supported by professional standards and regulatory frameworks; however, their real implementation in the everyday practice of care facilities remains a challenge. The European Care Framework can provide a shared reference framework for quality, financing, and governance, but without functional digital infrastructure its application remains fragmented and difficult to measure. The presentation will introduce the approach of the Malina Portal as a digital solution for managing the nursing care process in long-term care, connecting standards, legislation, and documentation practice. It will demonstrate how digitalization can serve as a practical implementation tool that transforms framework principles into measurable reality.

The Malina portal offers a digital ecosystem for nursing care, including an artificial intelligence assistant that supports nurses in decision-making. Its success, however, depends on the willingness of providers and on the rules set by both the state and the European Union.

With staff shortages and a growing number of patients with multiple diagnoses, the demands on safety and coordination are increasing. Digitalization is therefore not just an administrative add-on, but a means to safeguard professional decision-making, team collaboration, and quality management. A transparent, legally compliant record also improves continuity of care between providers.
