AI, cyber warfare and the future of combat conflicts: How technology is changing the rules of the game (5 min)

Tomáš Vobruba - , Check Point ·

Modern warfare is undergoing a fundamental transformation, with artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and information operations playing as important a role as weapons on the battlefield. AI accelerates decision-making, enables autonomous systems, and changes the nature of reconnaissance and attacks, while cyber operations disrupt adversary infrastructure, communications, and morale. Check Point Software Technologies reports and research show the remarkable speed of AI-driven threats, cyber warfare, and the exploitation of known vulnerabilities, confirming that the future will be defined by the speed, intelligence, and security of digital systems.

Artificial intelligence is changing the rules of the game: from disinformation campaigns to the front line. The lecture showed why hybrid threats are accelerating and why the most effective way to defend against AI is primarily by using AI.

AI in disinformation and cyberwarfare

AI is no longer just a helper; it is rapidly reshaping online behavior and becoming a tool of cyber and hybrid operations. Disinformation campaigns leverage generative content, deepfake videos, and microtargeting to influence voter sentiment and social divides. The war in Ukraine has shown how these techniques intertwine with kinetic combat and run on the same platforms we use in civilian life.

Social networks are flooded by coordinated accounts and networks whose origin is often outside the country they target. Publishing account metadata is controversial, but it shows the scale of organized operations and the effort to pose as a domestic voice. Telling what is true and what is not is increasingly difficult, because the speed and low cost of content production work in attackers’ favor.
