Trust, but verify each one properly!
Electronic signing is now a common part of the work of companies and public authorities, but choosing the right signature level and verifying it determine legal certainty. The lecture by Jany Žiarovej from Detras, a certification authority, explains when a simpler solution is sufficient and when a qualified electronic signature is essential. It also focuses on why and how to verify signatures and how to think about long-term archiving. An electronic signature can be simple, advanced, advanced based on a qualified certificate, or a qualified electronic signature. The choice should be based on the risk and importance of the document: internal materials usually tolerate a less strict regime, whereas for contracts that create rights and obligations it is safer to opt for a qualified solution. A qualified electronic signature has the legal weight of a handwritten signature and is often mandatory for public-law entities. When communicating with public administration, at minimum a signature based on a qualified certificate is required; with EU bodies, explicitly a qualified signature. How to choose the level of an electronic signature
