Before being elected in 2020, Tomáš was director of Carnegie Europe and a senior fellow, where his research focused on security and defense, transatlantic relations, and Europe’s Eastern neighborhood. Previously , Valášek served as the permanent representative of the Slovak Republic to NATO for nearly four years (2013 -2017). Before that, she headed the Recovery Plan Section at the Office of the Government of the Slovak Republic as the Director General. Martin Giertl, a lawyer specializing in human rights, NGOs, civil society and open government. After 2 years of service in foreign policy and 20 years of work as a senior lawyer for the Charter 77 Bratislava Foundation, he was appointed Plenipotentiary of the Government of the Slovak Republic for the Development of Civil Society. He was a founder of the Slovak National Center for Human Rights, a long-term member of the Board of the Third Sector.
