Michal Cehlár

A prominent figure in the field of “Raw Materials Policy”, which encompasses technologies for the extraction and processing of earth resources, their valuation, evaluation of mining projects, assessment of the environmental impact of mining activities, and evaluation of investment efficiency in the exploitation of mineral deposits. He studied Mining Engineering at the Faculty of Mining of the Technical University in Košice. He further deepened his scientific and research education in the fields of economics and mineral deposit valuation at the École Nationale Supérieure des Mines de Paris, France. He was awarded the title of Professor by the President of the Slovak Republic in 2004. The Mining University of Miskolc, Hungary, awarded him the title of Doctor Honoris Causa in 2019 for his outstanding contribution to the development of the university. He is currently the Dean of the Faculty of BERG at the Technical University in Košice, and thanks to his efforts in international cooperation, the faculty is involved in several international projects within the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) framework, including currently 15 projects under the EIT RawMaterials program. He is the founder of the European Raw Materials Association (ERMA) and serves as a member of the management board of EIT RawMaterials, which governs this association.
