How did Slovakia do in ITU GCI 2024?
In the latest Global Cybersecurity Index (GCI) of the International Telecommunication Union for 2024, Slovakia finished in the second-highest tier. It was separated from the very top by only 0,56 points out of 100. It is particularly strong in capacity building and cooperation, but has room for improvement in education and partnerships with the private sector. The GCI is the largest cybersecurity benchmark index, which does not assess the level of maturity, but whether countries meet specific parameters. It is based on five pillars: legal, technical and organizational measures, capacity building, and cooperation. The 2024 edition for the first time does not list an exact ranking but groups countries into five levels (T5 to T1). A total of 194 states were assessed, and not all provided their own data; in such cases the ITU uses publicly available sources, which can affect the results (the USA is one example). What the GCI actually measures
