Health coaching using behavioural and digital tools
Slovaks are living longer, but not healthier; two thirds of people over 65 have at least one chronic disease, and we spend significantly less on prevention than the EU average. The team of Katarína Gažíková tested a 14‑week health training program that, instead of general advice, guides participants step by step toward sustainable changes. During the pilot, hundreds of seniors managed to establish new habits, and the first positive shifts appeared in selected indicators. Although average life expectancy is increasing, compared with the EU we are still below the average, and chronic diseases are more the rule than the exception among seniors. Investments in prevention lag behind and the system often addresses partial diagnoses instead of causes. The typical advice “go on a diet and lose 10 kg” without concrete help leads to failure and demotivation. People need achievable goals, support, and regular monitoring of progress.Why advice alone isn’t enough
