According to the speakers, Active Directory is the backbone of enterprise IT—if it goes down, accounts, applications, and workstations stop working. It is also among the most frequently targeted assets: according to Microsoft, tens of millions of attack attempts occur every day, and more than a third of data breaches originate inside the network. A strong perimeter alone is not enough; what is crucial is to identify risks in time, protect, uncover suspicious activity, respond quickly, and recover.

Active Directory: the organization’s nervous system

AD provides authentication and authorization for accounts, workstations, and services, and connects to e‑mail servers, applications, and printers. In the Microsoft 365 and Azure environment, users rely on Azure Active Directory, with a large portion of on‑premises domains connected to it. If AD fails, access to e‑mail and corporate applications is interrupted and workstations stop functioning properly. Therefore, its availability and integrity are existential matters for every organization.
