What the third summer of AI can bring to the state
A brief overview of current trends in the use of artificial intelligence in state administration with examples of successful deployment in various countries that can be an inspiration for Slovakia. Artificial intelligence is no longer sci‑fi about evil robots, but a set of practical tools that solve specific tasks. The lecture outlined its development from McCarthy to today's “third summer” and showed where it can help the state. It also added examples from around the world and opportunities for cooperation with the private sector. In popular culture, AI is often equated with a rebellious robot, but in practice it most often refers to programs that can solve tasks they were not explicitly programmed for. Research is heading toward capabilities resembling human thinking, reasoning, and planning. The term “artificial intelligence” was introduced in 1956 by John McCarthy, followed by waves of great optimism, disappointment, and the so‑called AI winters; expert systems also brought a revival, albeit only to a limited extent. In practice, however, narrow systems designed for a single purpose still dominate—from voice assistants and autonomous vehicles to ChatGPT; a hypothetical superintelligence has not yet emerged.From myth to reality: what AI is today
