He is the head physician of the Palliative Medicine Clinic at the General University Hospital in Prague. In 2021, he became the chairman of the Czech Society for Palliative Medicine. He has long been involved in the development of palliative care teams in Czech hospitals, both at the professional and organizational and managerial levels. His work placements and internships in German hospitals, particularly at the palliative care clinic at the University Hospital in Munich, were a fundamental experience for him. In the field of palliative medicine, he has been instrumental in introducing the concept of early palliative care, and he puts particular effort into developing ethical and spiritual issues in the context of palliative care.
