Michał Rekowski

Before joining the Institute in 2018, Michał completed a Blue Book Traineeship at the European Defence Agency in Brussels. A PhD student at the Department of National Security of the Jagiellonian University, Michał researches European Strategic Autonomy, strategic aspects of EU policies, Common Security and Defence Policy, digital sovereignty and technology-security nexus. Principal Investigator in the research project “The role of the institutions of the European Union in the building of the European Strategic Autonomy” funded by the National Science Centre as a part of the Preludium-19 scheme. In 2020 Michał received the Ryoichi Sasakawa Young Leaders Fellowship (of the Tokyo Foundation). Recipient of numerous grants and scholarships, including for research visits to the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Universität Heidelberg and Universität Salzburg. Graduate in International Relations from the Jagiellonian Univeristy, Michał also studied at Sciences Po (Paris School of International Affairs) and National University of Singapore. Frequent participant in international academic conferences in political science and an author of publications in security studies and geopolitics. An initiator, editor and co-author of “Geopolitics of Emerging and Disruptive Technologies.
