Martin Venhart

Slovak Academy of Sciences, Chairman
Nuclear physicist Martin Venhart, DrSc., specializes in studying the shapes of atomic nuclei. His research focuses on solving the long-standing mystery of atomic nucleus deformation and revealing their non-spherical shapes. In 2021, his team discovered that the mosaic of knowledge about nucleus deformation lacks key information about very low-energy transitions. In 2021, his team found that key information about very low-energy transitions was missing from the mosaic of knowledge about nuclear deformation. Thanks to this discovery, he made significant progress in his long-standing efforts to obtain an ERC Advanced Grant. His proposal received the highest grade of A and was recommended for funding. He has had a prosperous career, which includes collaboration with major international institutions such as the University of Jyväskylä in Finland and CERN. He is currently the president of the Slovak Academy of Sciences.
