Mário Olexičak

Artist
A visual artist working mainly with acrylic on canvas. He focuses on combining pouring techniques, smooth transitions using an airbrush, and conceptual contrasts (e.g., harmony—the balance of opposites in nature, physics, and colors). His work is influenced by a long-standing interest in science, physics, cosmology, and paradoxical phenomena, as well as science fiction in film and literature. In his paintings, he combines scientific thinking, the aesthetics of symmetry, and color harmony. He creates series with a unified conceptual line – e.g., collections inspired by physical phenomena or events described in films, pop culture, or books.

He studied biophysics and molecular physics at the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics, and Informatics, Comenius University in Bratislava. His education has long shaped his thinking about structure, harmony, and systems. This is reflected in his paintings through precise geometry, physical metaphors, and an emphasis on scientific concepts such as balance, continuity, entropy, and color dynamics.

Art projects and series:
  • Chromodynamics – a series of three paintings (Red, Blue, Green) based on the physics of quarks and their colors in quantum chromodynamics. The glowing lines represent the "strings" of individual quarks, appearing in front of and behind the objects in the composition. Random brush strokes and pouring symbolize quantum fluctuations at the lowest level of reality.
  • Electromagic – a two-part series (Electromagic: South, Electromagic: North) dedicated to the balance between the north and south magnetic poles. Radiant lines of force express the energetic connection between the poles.
