Ľubomír Soják
He is an infectious disease specialist working at the Clinic of Infectious Diseases and Geographical Medicine at Academician L. Dérer Hospital in Bratislava. He graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of Comenius University in 2008 and has been dedicated to clinical infectology since that year. In his clinical practice, he specializes primarily in the treatment of nosocomial infections and the management of anti-infective therapy in the hospital. Since 2018, he has served as the chair of the Commission for Rational Anti-infective Therapy (KRALAPNI), which oversees the hospital’s antibiotic policy. In 2019, he completed a professional fellowship at the University Hospital in Lausanne, Switzerland, focusing on antimicrobial stewardship. He completed his postgraduate studies in 2022 with a doctoral dissertation entitled “Reactivation of Hepatitis B in Immunocompromised Patients,” carried out in cooperation with the National Cancer Institute in Bratislava. He also specializes in the management and treatment of opportunistic infections in immunocompromised patients.Since 2016, he has been involved in the care of patients living with HIV at the largest HIV/AIDS treatment center in Slovakia, serving as its head since 2023. In December 2024, he was appointed Head Physician of the Clinic of Infectious Diseases. He is a member of the Central Antibiotic Commission of the Slovak Republic, the National Commission for the Prevention of HIV/AIDS in Slovakia, the Slovak Society of Infectious Diseases, ESCMID, and the ECEE Euroguidelines Network. He is the author of several publications in Slovakia and abroad and regularly participates actively in conferences both nationally and internationally.
