Otolaryngologist

An otorhinolaryngologist based in Vienna, a healthcare innovator and co-founder of Shoelessly, which develops artificial intelligence technology for digital triage, sore throat diagnostics, and telemedicine. The AI solution, currently under patent application, helps patients assess their throat condition before visiting a doctor. She has more than ten years of clinical experience in otorhinolaryngology and head and neck surgery. During her career she has worked across healthcare systems in Austria, Germany, Switzerland, the United States, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia. At the National Institute of Children's Diseases in Bratislava she performed complex otologic procedures, including cochlear implant surgeries in young children. Her clinical practice also focuses on diagnosing and treating common ear, nose, and throat conditions. Alongside her clinical work she has long been involved in academic and research activities. She is currently a PhD candidate at the Faculty of Medicine at Masaryk University in Brno and has worked as a university lecturer teaching medical students and young physicians. She is the author or co-author of scientific publications and has presented at national and international medical congresses.

Through the Shoelessly project she focuses on developing digital health tools powered by artificial intelligence that help patients make informed decisions before visiting a doctor, reduce unnecessary visits to overcrowded outpatient clinics, and support responsible antibiotic use, thereby contributing to the reduction of antimicrobial resistance. Her vision is a healthcare system that is accessible, digital, and intelligently managed. It is a system in which technology helps patients reach the appropriate level of care at the right time.

  • When Diagnosis Begins at Home: AI Triage for Sore Throat (5 min)
Sore throat is one of the most common reasons for visiting a doctor, although the majority of cases are viral and do not require antibiotic treatment. This talk introduces the concept of AI-powered digital triage, which enables patients to obtain preliminary medical guidance before visiting a clinic. Using the example of the Shoelessly project, the presentation demonstrates how artificial intelligence can support more efficient use of healthcare services, reduce unnecessary outpatient visits, and contribute to more responsible antibiotic use.
