Opening speech

/ Introductory note
Do you know the most important date of Slovak digital transformation in 2016? It is June 1, 2016. On this day the digital transformation changed its owner and the department managing it. This change implies new goals and ambitions: citizen in the forefront, higher transparency, optimization of implemented projects and effective enforcement of necessary legislation changes. I have spoken about these goals and ambitions of the newly founded office during spring edition of ITAPA Congress.
Six months are already behind us. What we have done and what visions we have managed to bring to life? Did we manage to unite professional community with opponents of information society in the name of higher principle? And what about providers? Are they aware of their responsibility for the state of information society in Slovakia?
OPII and OPIS differ in just one letter – but what difference does it make for the IT community? What rules and processes will be in place in next 4 years to approach the allocated funds of almost 900 million EUR?
The desired state of things at the end of the program period is clear – a satisfied citizen who is not in the role of a postman delivering between institutions and modern government services making life easier for both citizens and businessmen. Will it succeed?
