A talk by Petr Balco from ATOS indicates that dependence on global platforms is high and requires thoughtful management of independence. According to the estimates presented, in the event of disconnection from major providers, as many as 74 % of companies would cease to operate, and around 80 % of digital services in Europe today are provided by a handful of the largest technology players. Sovereignty, however, does not mean 'locking yourself in'; it is about transparent decision-making on where and how to operate services and which data to keep under tighter control.
