SAFE FOOD: From Idea to Solution

The BIN 02 innovation call was announced in July 2021, and of the 34 projects submitted only three succeeded; SAFE FOOD is one of them. The project brings together the company BA Solar, the civic association No Gravity, and the Norwegian partner Pure Food Norway. The idea combines allergen-free approaches with low-emission transport and the development of a mobile application for users.

In August 2022, the project was presented to the public, and systematic work began: analysis of food allergies, preparation of recipes, and the app’s design. Alongside the expert work, administration was also ongoing — interim reports, milestones, indicators, and mandatory publicity. Thanks to good management and strict adherence to grant rules, the project was brought to a successful conclusion.

What the Conclusion and the New Period Will Bring

All supported projects are to be completed in the second quarter of this year, thereby closing the 2014–2021 programme period of the EEA and Norway Grants. The donor states Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein, together with the beneficiary countries, are preparing the new 2021–2028 period so that programmes and calls can get underway as soon as possible. The SAFE FOOD project is expected to improve the quality of life for people with dietary restrictions and support sustainable solutions in practice. At the same time, it strengthens bilateral cooperation and shows how innovation can become a service to society.
