Using AI in software development and new products
AI is changing the way we develop software. Artificial intelligence is also integrated into several of our products. The presentation will focus on examples of how AT&T is using this technology to improve operational efficiency, increase network resiliency and product innovation.
AI helps us predict network needs, improve quality in automated product deployments, and protect infrastructure from unforeseen events. Artificial intelligence is not only a development tool, but also an important part of our future innovations.
AT&T has decades of experience with innovation, including artificial intelligence, and notes that their people were there at its inception as early as 1956. The speaker didn’t aim to sell products, but to inspire by showing how AI boosts return on investment and accelerates development. He offered concrete examples that are applicable beyond the telecommunications sector. Just nine years after the birth of the first semiconductor, ideas we associate today with artificial intelligence were emerging in the laboratories of the predecessors of today’s AT&T Labs. Today the company takes a pragmatic view of AI: investments in digital transformation that previously promised double returns often yield triple returns when AI is used. In practice, that means roughly hundreds of initiatives pass through a filter of expected return, and those with the greatest potential are implemented. The goal is not to sell tools, but to show where they make sense and how they help people and businesses. From AI’s first spark to threefold returns
