9:45 - 10:55 Simulation Centres: From Purchasing Technology to Real Operation and Impact (hall Biela púť A)
Simulation centres are fundamentally changing medical education. Slovakia is investing around €50 million in them - but the key question is how to turn this investment into measurable benefits for medics, healthcare professionals, and patients. A discussion with simulation centre directors from Slovakia and the Czech Republic, and with technology suppliers, will focus on a workable operating model, teaching methodology, impact measurement, and the most common implementation mistakes. It will offer a practical perspective on sustainable operations, service, and project management - including what determines the success of a simulation center in practice.

11:10 - 12:10 Medication Policy and Availability of Treatment (hall Biela púť A)
Medicine policy is one of the fundamental pillars of health system sustainability - it influences access to treatment, the pace of innovation, and long-term financial stability. However, in the context of an open European market, parallel trade flows and stock movements within the EU naturally enter into national strategies. The panel will focus on what a modern and balanced national medicines policy should look like: where is the optimal balance between free-market principles and guaranteeing access to treatment for domestic patients. We will discuss what regulatory and monitoring tools are effective and how to set up a system that is predictable for manufacturers and distributors, sustainable for insurers, and, above all, safe for patients.

11:10 - 11:30 Reality of Long-Term Care in Slovakia: What Hospice Practice Shows (Lounge D)

Hospices and mobile hospices in Slovakia accompany patients and their families every day at the end of life. Their practice also reveals where the system of specialized palliative and hospice care works well and where it still needs stronger support – for example, earlier integration of palliative care, better availability of hospice services, and closer cooperation between the healthcare and social care systems. The discussion will offer a perspective from hospice practice on what patients and their families need most today and what steps could help ensure that high-quality palliative care is accessible to everyone who needs it.
