ITAPA OPEN TALK 3
17:45 - 19:00 ITAPA OPEN TALK: Innovative treatment (LOBBY BAR)
In Slovakia, the debate about the need for effective financing of medical innovations and closing the investment gap, which has been growing for the last decade, resonates. A mechanism to support early entry, e.g. in the form of an innovation fund, could help bridge the period of the formal categorization process and thus bring modern treatment to patients in Slovakia in the shortest possible time after EMA registration. Do we take into account data from cost-of-illness analyzes in Slovakia? Is innovative treatment really more expensive in the end than the overall socio-economic impact of inadequate patient treatment? Can we quantify the costs in the form of risk of premature death, disability, impact on employment and productivity, or other social costs? Early access to medical innovations can help in the collection of real world data and thus contribute to informed decisions in the categorization process itself.
