ITAPA Forum Knows the Winner of Elections

Fight against corruption, justice and public administration – according to politicians these are the most important issues for the future government if there is to be a change in information society. At “ITAPA Forum – e-Government in Slovakia 2010-2014” event political parties have presented their political programs. The participants of the conference had a chance to choose from them the best one – the party SDKU-DS won the voting.

Pre-election round table has brought not only evaluation of present state of information society and e-Government in Slovakia but also discussion between politicians and experts about priorities and necessary measures. Politicians promise specific projects in e-Procurement, introduction of legal decisions and public finance information to internet as well as single contact places.

One of the steps that would help to speed up the process would be inclusion of information society as a priority to political programs. Ing. Vladimír Ivantyšyn, ITAPA Director General says:” However, political parties still define only their priorities and information technologies are for them just one of the tools how to make these priorities more effective.” In European countries Information society no more means just implementation of electronic services, it is an instrument for common European goals – mobility, united European market, access to information and more effective public administration with less bureaucracy. New European Union strategy requires from member countries interconnection of electronic services (identification, procurement, etc.), elimination of bureaucracy and administration, and active delivery of information. This strategy presumes that member countries already have a portfolio of electronic services that are to be interconnected and coordinated. In Slovakia these services are not even developed. Vladimír Ivantyšyn says:” Information society should be a governmental priority. If Slovakia is to be a modern state, information society and e-Government should be systematically developed.”
Besides information technologies in public administration it is necessary also to focus on information technologies in healthcare, education and culture. European Commission expects electronic services to enable work, study and stay anyplace in Europe. Exchange of information on health state, registration for study at high school or university in member countries, electronic registration and establishment of business company in any European country – these are goals of next decades. In political programs of Slovak parties such objectives are missing.
